All aspects of the esthetics can be more critically evaluated (e.g. color, shape, size, width, intensity of color, value, translucency, form, surface texture, surface luster etc.) between central incisors because of their proximity to each other. In contrast, when observing a lateral or a cuspid, the human eyes cannot see the contralateral tooth at the same time. When matching a lateral or cuspid next to another tooth, the esthetic aspects being compared are different. Thus restoring a single incisor is probably among the most difficult aesthetic challenges for any dentist.

One of the biggest complaints we face in Class 2 type restorations is food impaction due to improper contacts. When we used the matrix systems meant for amalgam to make our composite restorations, we managed to seal the Class 2 preparations. However, creating proper inter proximal contact was difficult and food lodgment was a common complaint we had to face .

The main thing in any dental treatment is to sustain the perfect occlusion. It could be centric or retruded. But I think we need to stress upon the Myocentric. Myocentric occlusion is the occlusal relationship between mandible and maxilla that minimizes the need for muscles accommodation and posturing, and allows normal decompression of neural and vascular intra capsular tissue and associated connective tissue. It provides the optimal condylar position that we strive to achieve in a gnathic system that may have become pathologic due to previous condylar positional discrepancies leading to TMD (Tempero-mandibular dysfunctions). This can be explained only with the help of an actual knowledge in the sciences of Neuromuscular Dentistry (NMD). The science of NMD is well chronicled in hundreds of scientific articles and textbooks including past anthologies.

Flossing is in fact the one recommendation of dentists that patients find most difficult to do. Dentists, nevertheless, have insisted that flossing prevents gum disease and dental caries. But is there enough evidence that flossing is really essential to your overall oral health? It all started after a recent story by Associated Press (AP) that there is little evidence that flossing actually works. They reported that when the federal government issued its latest dietary guidelines, the recommendation of flossing had been removed. Even the government acknowledged that the effectiveness of flossing had never been researched as required.
