Dr. Surabhi Mahidhar tells his own story in simple words – invest in your practice needs.
It was 2008 when I finished my post-graduation and joined my father's practice that was running successfully since 1981. I was clear about my needs right from day one.
I always wanted a diagnostic tool for myself, without depending on any center; and in 2008, my town had no OPG center. So my top priority at that time was having my own in-house OPG. It took me 6 years to save small portions from my daily earnings to build a corpus to buy what I needed. Finally, in 2015 I had my own OPG machine.
Then I moved to my next objective. I realized we had no CBCT center within a radius of 150 km, thus it would be a great idea to invest in a CBCT machine. It took me two years to upgrade the OPG machine to a CBCT. I had my own CBCT machine in 2017.
Though it fulfilled my main requirement, I realized I wanted a portable smart machine. I marked 2021 as the deadline and started saving again for it. And in December 2021 I bought a CBCT again which happened to be the first in my town and the only one in a radius 90 km. I never hurried. I just planned things well and kept realistic timelines. It took time and I knew it would take time. Nothing comes in a day. Be patient and keep doing your work..and be a smart investor!! Don't invest in everything and anything unnecessarily for satisfying your ego. Invest in things you need in your practice. Your clarity sets your priorities. If someone has something which you don't have and you don't need it in your practice, let it go..don't bother!! Set your goals, and save daily!
