New Delhi, India– The 6th Global American Academy of Implant Dentistry (GAAID) and the 12th World Congress of Oral Implantology (WCOI) launched today in grand style at The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel.
The event brought together leaders, policymakers, and innovators in implant dentistry, presenting a global platform for dialogue, cutting-edge advancements, and progressive solutions in oral healthcare.
In his welcoming remarks, Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Chairman of the Conference, acknowledged the rapid evolution in dental care. “Today’s emphasis on precision, efficiency, and predictable outcomes signals a new era in patient care,” he stated, describing the conference as a “meeting of pioneering Western expertise with the innovative spirit of the East.”
Sh. Amitabh Kant, India’s G-20 Sherpa and former CEO of NITI Aayog, highlighted the focus on fostering innovation. "It’s inspiring to witness advances in aesthetic and functional solutions in dentistry," he noted, calling for accessible and affordable dental care nationwide. Kant also underscored the necessity for policy expansion and research, with a commitment to innovative breakthroughs in dental health.
Member of Parliament Sh. Anurag Singh Thakur echoed this sentiment, commending India’s strides in both mental and physical healthcare. He remarked on the expansion of healthcare facilities across India, noting the impact on accessibility for all citizens.
The Guest of Honour, Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava, IAS, Secretary Health, Government of India, spoke to the government’s ongoing commitment to healthcare advancement. She emphasised the prioritisation of oral health initiatives as essential to the nation's overall health improvements.
An inspiring message from Hon’ble Sh. J.P. Nadda, Union Health Minister, highlighted India’s contribution to global dentistry, while a video message from Dr. Edward Kusek, President of AAID, added a global perspective to the event.
Dr. Shankar Iyer, Chief Patron and past President of AAID, underscored the significance of India’s role on the international stage, noting that over 80% of Indian experts are sharing their insights with the international delegates. “India is establishing itself as a leader in implant dentistry worldwide,” he declared.
In his address, Dr. Shigeo Osato, President of WCOI, Japan, called upon the attendees to further global oral health. He emphasised the conference’s role in strengthening international ties and collaborative efforts.
The event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the release of the Delegate Book, and the presentation of the Appreciation Awards.
Dr. Brij Sabherwal, Organising Secretary, closed the session with a Vote of Thanks, leading into the National Anthem.
The day also featured groundbreaking pre-conference lectures:
- Dr. Apoorva Gupta discussed the benefits of soft tissue graft substitutes, highlighting improvements in healing and patient comfort.
- Dr. Vikas Aggarwal introduced Digital Occlusal Analysis, an innovative approach to refining bite alignment, enhancing patient outcomes with greater precision.
- Dr. Kuber Sood demonstrated the Magnetic Mallet, a minimally invasive tool that reduces surgical trauma while preserving procedural accuracy.
These innovations mark a pivotal shift towards patient-centred care, setting new standards for quality and longevity in implantology. Attendees expressed enthusiasm about the potential of these advancements to transform patient experiences and outcomes.
