In the month of September, 2018 at the global meet of world’s leading organisation Fédération Dentaire Internationale (FDI) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Director and Principal, Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi, India, was elected to the prestigious science committee of the FDI. His candidature was nominated by Indian Dental Association (IDA) and he is the first Indian ever to get this opportunity.
The illustrious Science Committee of the FDI has the responsibility to monitor and advice in issues related to oral health by streamlining the Scientific actions in the field of dentistry, across the globe. The vivid representation of nine comrades in the committee is inclusive of the members of World Health Organisation (WHO), International Association of Dental Research (IADR) and the International Organisation of Standardization (ISO).
Prof. (Dr.) Verma, in his association with the committee will be sharing the onus to champion the cause of advancement of dentistry by his contributions in the committee. The tasks will be inclusive of multitude assignments including the translation of scientific information to the dental profession, developing papers and policy statements, identifying the areas of international concern in the science of dentistry, evaluation of new projects and operations of ongoing projects in the Committee, and identifying co-operation with the associate national and international agencies relative to the current and future projects.
Through his induction, the FDI empowers Prof. (Dr.) Verma in his endeavours to competently contribute to the growth of Science for the goodwill of the communities across the globe.
