In cases of class IV restorations, it becomes mandatory to restore the tooth to its ideal form and contour to make the restoration look aesthetic. This video demonstrates the exact method of layering the putty index.

Building the palatal wall in cases of Class IV cavity always makes the process of layering more predictable.

Once the mock is ready on a stone cast, we record the palatal surface with putty. Once it’s recorded, we mark the amount of destruction on the putty with a sharp instrument.

Layering this palatal wall is a bit tacky because putty is not surface treated like a tooth. So it requires special instruments like composite brush, micro applicator and modelling resin. This video demonstrates the exact method of layering the putty index.
