Back to Basics at the 20th IPS post-graduate convention

Chennai, India : The 20 Indian Prosthodontic Society (IPS) National post graduate convention was held at Chettinad Dental College, Chennai, on 6 to 8 July 2018. The scientific extravaganza was themed as back to basics, structured to the present day needs. Over 1800 delegates from across the country participated in the event.

The prestigious TM Udani oration was delivered by Dr. Murali Srinivasan from the Division of Gerodontology, University of Geneva, Switzerland, on Challenges in Gerodontology and special care Dentistry: Current trends and future paths. Over 20 national speakers lectured, debated on various divisions of prosthodontics.

The scientific program was scheduled to cover the basics of all aspects of prosthodontics to benefit the student community. For the first time debates and symposium were organized in a convention to provide deep insight on few topics.

Over 45 faculties from across the country conducted 18 preconvention courses ranging from basic to advanced prosthodontics. The priority of topics for courses and the scientific deliberations, program structuring was done in accordance to the online survey done among IPS -OL and student members ahead of convention.

For the first time teeth arrangement, tooth preparation competition, e slogan competition and highly structured quiz on prosthodontics was incorporated in the convention.

The scientific sessions witnessed 330 student paper presentations, 313 posters and 110 table clinics presented by the student members.  One to one sessions was organized for over 150 delegates
