Guwahati, India: Neordent Healthcare Solutions Private Limited has received an Indian patent for an invention titled Advanced Electrical Toothbrush with Real-Time Diagnostic Capabilities and Enhanced Brushing, according to a filing with the Indian Patent Office.

Dr Chinmoy Hazarika's Patent

Granted in January 2026, the patent covers a smart toothbrush platform that integrates sensing technologies, imaging, and data analytics to extend routine toothbrushing into preventive oral health monitoring. The system has been developed under the company’s flagship initiative, GentleDental.ai, which focuses on AI-driven preventive dental care.

The patented technology is designed to collect oral health data in real time during daily brushing. In addition to improving brushing performance, it generates clinically relevant insights intended to support early detection and monitoring of oral health conditions. The platform combines embedded electronics, diagnostic imaging, and intelligent feedback mechanisms to narrow the gap between home oral care and professional dental assessment.

The invention is attributed to Dr Chinmoy Hazarika, founder of Neordent Healthcare Solutions, who is listed as a co-patentee along with the company. Dr Hazarika said the patent marked an initial step towards positioning oral health as a continuous, data-driven process rather than one reliant on periodic clinical visits.

“This patent supports our belief that routine oral hygiene can function as a preventive health interface,” he said. “The aim is to generate meaningful data for users and clinicians without disrupting daily habits.”

Industry analysts view the development as part of a broader global trend towards smart consumer devices that increasingly incorporate medical and diagnostic features. Neordent said it is pursuing international patent protection for future iterations of the technology and plans to undertake clinical validation and pilot deployments.

The patent adds to India’s expanding presence in dental and medical device innovation and reflects the growing role of clinician-led startups in translating practical healthcare challenges into scalable technology solutions.
