International Day of the Elderly is dedicated to honor, respect and care for the world’s elderly. This day is celebrated all across the world toto encourage people to focus on responsibilities towards the lives of elder people through the demonstration of promotional material in schools, institutions, offices and public notice boards.
The Department of Prosthodontics, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Ramaiah University of Health Sciences, in association with Danta Bhagya Yogane, Government of Karnataka, and Indian Prosthodontic Society, Bangalore branch conducted a free denture camp for underprivileged patients from Chikkaballapura district.
The camp was organized in co-ordination with district health officers from Chintamani district and Buttalahalli district who assisted the team in identifying the patients for treatment. Transportation and food was arranged by college authorities and district health officer.
The inaugural function was graced by the Dean of the Institution, Dr.B.V.Sreenivas Murthy, Associate Deans of UG and PG, Dr Silju Mathew and Dr Latha Anandkrishna, Hospital Director Dr Prakash Chandra, District Dental Health officer and Nodal officer of Danta Bhagya Yogane Government of Karnataka Dr Manjula.K.V, Dr.Suma (HOD) ,teaching staff and patients. Two volunteers Mrs Mangala, and Ms Achsah G Thomas (social workers) were present to witness the camp. There were 53 complete denture patients treated on the camp day. 25 patients had complete denture insertions and remaining patients were treated with primary and secondary impressions. The patients address and the contact numbers of the patients were noted with signatures and thumb impressions records were maintained in log book.
