I am very happy & obliged to inform you that SDKSDCH is organizing the Fifth Edition of ‘Research Cash Awards in Oral Healthcare’. These Awards aim to acknowledge and appreciate the highest standards of excellence in the field of oral healthcare. A Cash Award of INR 1,11,111/- for each of the five categories (Padmabhushan Dr. R. Ahmed Research Cash Award for Teacher/Alumni, Padmavibhushan Prof. Dr. M. M. Sharma Research Cash Award for UG Student, Padmavibhushan Prof. Dr. R. A. Mashelkar Research Cash Award for Best Patent in Oral Healthcare, Dr. G. B. Shankwalkar Research Cash Award for PG Students & Pierre Fauchard- Padmashree Prof. Dr. G. D. Yadav Cash Award for Best Corporate Connect Research in Oral Healthcare) making it total to a tune of INR 5,55,555/- will give the participants a professional boost to perform better, aim higher and garner a shining reputation in the field of Research, Academics and Corporates.

Our Institute takes pride in its ideology that ‘No Institute is complete without the Highest Standards of Academics and Research.’
On 13th April 2018, our Institute celebrated Research Day as an event marking the celebration of the 85th Birth Anniversary year of Swargiya Dadasaheb Kalmegh and the completion of 11 Glorious years of Swargiya Dadasaheb Kalmegh Smruti Dental College & Hospital. During the event, our Hon'ble Founder President Shri Sharad Kalmegh declared the cash award of INR 1,11,111/- each for Faculty/Alumni and students in the name of Padmabhushan late Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmed and Padmavibhushan Hon’ble Prof. Dr. MM Sharma, respectively.
The First Edition Research Awards Ceremony was organized as 2 events, on 22nd February 2019 and 16th March 2019 respectively. The Faculty/Alumni Category research cash award was accorded by DCI President Hon'ble Dr. Dibyendu Mazumdar, while the Student Research Cash Award was conferred by Padmavibhushan Hon'ble Prof. Dr. RA Mashelkar. The award function was presided over by Padmavibhushan Hon'ble Prof. Dr. MM Sharma & Padmashree Hon'ble Prof. Dr. GD Yadav was the Guest of Honour. During this event, our President Shri Sharad Kalmegh declared a Decade of Research & Innovation in Healthcare (2018-28). Subsequently, he instituted three more Research Cash Awards of INR 1,11,111 each, in addition to the previous two awards. The inception of these Research Awards by our Institution is a step toward promoting Research in Oral Healthcare.
From the Second Edition of Research Awards onwards, a total of 5 categories were instituted, for Research Cash Awards of INR 1,11,111 each, to the tune of INR 5,55,555/-. In the Third Edition of the Research Award, the domain for participation in the Dr. G. B. Shankwalkar Award for PG Students was extended from ‘East Vidarbha’ to ‘Vidarbha’ level. In Fourth Edition of Research Award, the domain for participation in Padmavibhushan Prof. Dr. R. A. Mashelkar Award for Best Patent in Oral Healthcare and Pierre Fauchard- Padmashree Prof. G. D. Yadav Award for Best Corporate Connect Research in Oral Healthcare, was extended from ‘State’ to ‘National’ level; & also for Dr. G. B. Shankwalkar Award for PG Student, it was extended from ‘Vidarbha’ to ‘State’ level.
The combined Second/ Third Edition Research Awards Ceremony was held on 28th April 2022, during which total cash awards of INR 11,11,111/- were given to the winners. The function was presided over by Hon’ble Shri Nitinji Gadkari, & Guests of Honour were Hon’ble Shri Prakashji Javadekar, Hon’ble Prof. G.D. Yadav & Hon’ble Dr. Vedprakash Mishra.
The Fourth Edition Research Awards Ceremony was held on 18th March 2023, during which total cash awards of INR 5,5,555/- were given to the winners. The function was presided over by Padmavibhushan Hon'ble Prof. Dr. MM Sharma, Padmavibhushan Hon'ble Prof. Dr. RA Mashelkar & Hon’ble Shri Shrikant Badve, & Guests of Honour were Hon’ble Prof. G.D. Yadav & Hon’ble Dr. Vedprakash Mishra.
We are pleased to inform you that for the Fifth Edition of the Research Award, the domain for participation in Dr. G. B. Shankwalkar Award for PG Student, has been extended from ‘State (Maharashtra)’ to ‘Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamilnadu & Gujarat’ level. Applications for the Fifth Edition of Research Awards are invited from the Postgraduate students/ faculty members of the Dental fraternity at the State/ National level. The online application commenced on 29th January 2024 & shall end on 27th February 2024.
I wish to inform you that PG students & faculty members of all dental colleges of India are eligible to apply for two Awards - Padmavibhushan Prof. Dr. R. A. Mashelkar Award for Best Patent in Oral Healthcare and Pierre Fauchard-Padmashree Prof. G. D. Yadav Award for Best Corporate Connect Research in Oral Healthcare.
