SCHAAN, Liechtenstein: Ivoclar has announced that Markus Heinz will replace Diego Gabathuler as CEO of the company. Gabathuler headed the company successfully over the past four years. Under his leadership, Ivoclar achieved excellent operating results in the 2019 and 2021 fiscal years and the highest revenue in its history in 2022—a turnover of CHF 872 million (€875 million). This was a 4.9% turnover growth compared with the previous year.

Ivoclar attributes the favourable 2022 results to the introduction of innovative new products and the company’s expansion into growth markets around the globe. In July 2019, Gabathuler took over as CEO from Robert Ganley, who had been Ivoclar’s CEO for 16 years. During his term, Gabathuler guided the strategic development of the company towards becoming a more modern, digital and customer-centric organisation. The company stated in a press release that Gabathuler has decided to resign from his position in order to pursue career options outside of the dental industry, having a particular interest in the world of start-ups.

Gabathuler is succeeded by Heinz, who has been with the company since 1985. With a background in production and supply chain management, organisational development, human resources and customer care, Heinz said that he is looking forward to continuing to implement the existing strategies and developing the company further. “This includes fine-tuning and optimisation by increasing the focus on our growth markets and on our core products while investing in innovative solutions for the future. We will continue to sharpen our focus on our customers, our people and [our] partners,” Heinz explained.

Commenting on the geopolitical and economic challenges that arose over the past year, Heinz stated that Ivoclar managed to navigate these successfully: “Even though we had to deal with issues related to logistics, delivery capabilities and energy supplies, we were able to anticipate the challenges in advance and plan accordingly. The geographical diversification strategy of the company allows us to spread our business activities over different types of economic regions, thereby reducing currency and supply chain risks. This gives us a competitive edge in uncertain times.”

Heinz will be supported in his tasks by the existing members of the corporate management. In his role as chief commercial officer, Christian Brutzer will be responsible for the sales organisation of all markets in the future.

Ivoclar, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, further announced that it will be inaugurating its new administration, visitor and training centre at its headquarters in Liechtenstein in June. The centre boasts 300 state-of-the-art workspaces and opportunities for visitors to explore the company’s historic and current innovations.

Ivoclar sells its products in over 130 countries through 47 subsidiaries and branch offices around the world. The company employs more than 3,700 people worldwide, around 950 of whom work at its headquarters in Schaan in Liechtenstein.
